I am a particular fan of Esmond Mills from Rhode Island. Bandannas were also produced in Rhode Island for a long time as well. Trade blankets are a major cultural symbol of American history and the West. These beautiful designs originate from traditional Native American basket weaving, beadwork and weaving techniques. They have a strong affiliation with a variety of cultural topics but for this one Yurika and I designed this one around a Esmond blanket. Fiddling with the colors a bit to get them to how we think they would really shine, we have matcha green, indigo blues and rusty reds.
