“Showa Tsubaki”
Natsukashi

Alessio Vitelli has a very distinct style of art. We asked him once again to design a bandanna. This time around we went for something “far out”. I have wanted to make something “showa-retro” for a while now and the timing felt good. Just the right amount of inspiration. Showa-retro is a Japanese term for Showa era nostalgia. Usually designs from the 1960s to 1970s post-war revival. These designs were heavily influenced by American occupation and the internationalization and globalization of Japan during this era. The color cues are mute and almost feel universally standardized. The designs and layouts of these are symmetrical and eye-catching. Tsubaki is Japanese for camellia flowers and this flower happens to be a favorite of mine and was very popular during this era. I think when Japanese people see this they will feel very “natsukashi”. Enjoy.
