“Sun and Plant” Turkey Red 70 x 70

In all honesty, I'm still amazed by how this design came together. When Satoshi first showed me the concept, I knew it was something special, but watching it evolve into the finished bandanna has been a real pleasure. The inspiration comes from traditional tattoos from the Philippines, using the motifs of a sun and a plant. Around them, we built a simple arrangement of dots and lines that reminds me of some of my favorite indigo bandannas from the 1920s. The colors were just as important as the design itself. The reddish-brown was matched from an antique turkey-red textile in my own collection, while the beige was chosen to recreate the soft look of old discharge-printed fabrics. They're subtle details, but together they give the bandanna a warmth that feels familiar and fresh. I love vintage textiles, but I've never been interested in copying them. The goal has always been to learn from the past and create something that feels like it belongs there without pretending it came from there. To me, that's exactly what this bandanna is. A respectful nod to history, but an original design with its own story to tell.

正直なところ、このデザインがここまでええ形に育ったことに、今でもちょっと驚いてます。最初に聡くんがこのデザインを見せてくれた時点で、「これはええな」と思ったんですが、そこから少しずつ形になって、こうして一枚のバンダナとして完成したのを見ると、ほんまに嬉しくなります。モチーフになっているのは、フィリピンの伝統的なタトゥーに見られる太陽と植物。その周りをドットとラインで囲むことで、1920年代頃のインディゴバンダナを思わせるような雰囲気に仕上げました。色にもかなりこだわっています。赤茶色は僕が持っているアンティークのターキーレッドの生地を参考にしていて、ベージュは当時の抜染プリント特有のやわらかい表情をイメージしています。派手な色使いではないですが、この組み合わせやからこそ、時間を重ねたような温かみが生まれたと思っています。僕は昔のテキスタイルが大好きですが、そのまま真似をしたいとは思ったことがありません。昔のものから学んで、その空気感や魅力を受け継ぎながら、自分たちなりの新しいものを作る。それOneEarBrandのものづくりです。このバンダナも、そんな一枚になったと思っています。過去への敬意を込めながらも、しっかりと自分たちの物語を持った、オリジナルのデザインです。
